What the heck is Fuh-lah-fuhl ?!
Vector Design Concepts have been approached by Healthy Options, in an attempt to help them reach out to potential new customers in the local area. Healthy Options is a small convenience food supplier in Wakefield Market who dedicate themselves to producing Falafel, a tasty Middle Eastern dish which is produced from ground up fried chick peas, served in warm pita bread with salad and dressing. Healthy Options pride themselves in producing a ‘Healthy Tasty Alternative’ to modern convenience food.
Healthy Options owner, Debra Lowe, has spent many years travelling throughout Africa & the Middle East in search of authentic foreign cuisine and has been able to bring an alternative taste to Wakefield, however Debra specified that an injection of creative flair was definitely required to improve her current branding which did not communicate her vision to potential customers.
We established that the Healthy Options brand was something that had definite potential and with the correct design direction, the company could move away from its mobile image and expand the brand into a permanent presence.

With a more contemporary approach, mixed in with a little humour, we created the ‘Chick Pea’ concept which instantly connected with the brand content and would allow her to portray a more professional/corporate image. The simplicity of the design not only has the ability to attract attention from a distance, due to its bold colour and creative graphic, but also had the flexibility to be used across multiple areas such as stationary, stickers and sandwich/food bags etc, in which the public would instantly recognise.
We experimented with typography and phonetic (pho-net-ic) language in an effort to inform potential customers to what it is that Healthy Options actually sell. This was an element of the brief that was essential, as many of the customers of Healthy Options had never heard of many of the items that were on the menu. We realised that not only did we have to catch their attention with design, but we had to inform the public in a way that was not seen as learning, but fun.
This has been an excellent opportunity for Vector to create what could become an iconic brand. Essentially we at Vector have got high hopes for this project and are hoping that the brand does grow into something huge, as it will not only mean we did it right, but we will get free Falafel for life!
