Presentations on a shoe string
Jamie Goldspink explains how, with Vector's expertise, even a limited budget can create a superb winning presentation.
A ‘win’ would be that decisive moment when the customer, investor or planner says “Where do I sign?”.
Presentations are one of the most important parts of the construction process, all done with limited budgets. Being able to spend thousands on a presentation is often a privilege of the big national developers, whose return justifies the expense. It is rare to see medium to large developments go to site without comprehensive presentation material behind them. Whether it be animated flythrough, visuals, glossy brochures, massing studies, aerial photography etc, these all form part of a good presentation, but at a cost.
On smaller projects it’s simply not economically viable to eat into profits before the work has even begun. This is where ‘making the best of what you have right now’
is the only solution. "I have seen large multi-million pound projects try this adage, but only to find that planning and PR insist on something more to ensure the marketability of a development. In the end, the client is happy with its success and this additional outlay is vindicated."
Smaller budgets, however, only have the architect’s planning drawings to play with, but this is all that we need. It’s amazing how a scheme can be transformed with a splash of colour, professionally mounted on a board and displaying all relevant logos. Clean, simple and cost effective.
"By no means am I trying to convince you that you should skimp on presentation, but to make you aware that a splash of colour could go a long way to bigger and brighter things."
