Markham Vale

Building description:

Located in north Derbyshire Markham Vale is a 200-acre business/industrial park, offering direct access to the M1 motorway via a dedicated new junction, 29A.  Centred around the mostly derelict Markham Colliery Site, the £62 million project will create Markham Vale, a business and industrial park offering thousands of new jobs and over three million square feet of commercial floor space.  Derbyshire County Council appointed Henry Boot Developments as their preferred developer and Vector Design has played an integral part in the design process, from the initial stages, providing the design framework which outlined the vision for the development.

Due to the size of the scheme the planning authorities requested a series of visuals from strategic viewpoints around the site.  Photographing the existing site and overlaying the various proposed buildings enabled the relevant authorities to assess the impact of the proposed plots on the surrounding context.

We fully modeled each of the proposed buildings providing a 360 degree animation in a 6 minute DVD presentation, produced in-house which was issued with the marketing brochure.  Additional material utilized to aid the design process include material sample boards, aerial photomontages, coloured masterplans, GA plans, sections and elevations.
