Steve Banks - Associate
From my earliest memories I’ve always been creative so to work in the design industry has been a dream career choice. Having many artistic influences growing up (from Norman Foster to my Art Foundation tutor Sam Boffey) a particular inspiration was born from the early graphic work of Shynola. The role of 3D and animation in the design industry and the use of special fx in films intrigues me and having the skill to turn an idea into something three dimensional is very rewarding.
Away from the office I enjoy playing golf and squash, country walks with our dog “Merlot”, the theatre, and spending time with my family.
Adam Lingard - Senior Graphic Designer
From as early as I remember design has been my passion, as a child I spent hours sketching dinosaurs and planning the perfect garden pond for my frogs. After studying at both Wakefield and Doncaster College I spent a short time designing clothing before joining Vector back in 2004.
Away from the office I enjoy spending time with family, friends and going on adventures with my two boys.
Ketia Fong Wah - Senior Interior Designer
I genuinely love my job, I enjoy thinking about space, it’s a great feeling to be able to create something from scratch and then develop and build a concept into something real that can be enjoyed by others. I would describe myself as the weird one that looks behind things and under things to see how it has been constructed.
To keep me sane I snowboard…a lot, a heck of a lot, and I love it as much as design it keeps me balanced and stops me from turning into the female version of Laurence Llewelyn Bowen.
Andy Sinclair - Chartered Landscape Architect
My passion for landscape architecture stems from my love of the great outdoors and desire to conserve and enhance the environment in which we live, work and play.
I am passionate about design and take inspiration from all forms including the arts and science. I have a love for both rural and urban landscapes and a keen interest in all aspects of horticulture and arboriculture.
My work allows me to engage in a diverse range of projects from the design of private gardens and commercial developments sites through to large scale masterplanning and public realm renewal on urban regeneration schemes.
I particularly enjoy the detail design stage of a project and being involved in the implementation of the works on site. Seeing the transformation of your vision into reality is very exciting and provides great satisfaction and reward for the hard work invested during the earlier stages of the project.
In my spare time I enjoy mountain biking, traveling and exploring new places.
Dave Watson - Senior 3D Visualiser
I have been working as a 3D Visualiser for over eight years and have been lucky enough to work on a wide variety of different jobs from unique hotels to footballer’s houses. I have always had an interest in architecture and with my background in Gaming and Animation bringing the two together was inevitable. There is nothing better than seeing a sketch developed into a 3D visualisation and then comparing this to the real thing.
I gained my honours degree at The University of Huddersfield specialising in Virtual Reality with Animation. During this time, I was able to self-teach myself numerous software and learn new tricks which I still use today.
During my spare time I like to visit the magnificent Old Trafford to watch the mediocre football that is on show. Being a season ticket holder for many years I am the target for ridicule from my fellow colleagues. Other than my love of football, I very much enjoy anything active such as hiking, walking and biking.
Paul Uttley - 3D Visualiser
Art and architecture have been interests of mine long before I was considering a career. I spent many hours in my youth sketching and drawing buildings, I found buildings didn’t move around as much as people or animals. This interest led me towards a BSc in Architecture from the University of Bath, eventually working in a number of professional architecture practices. Throughout a fifteen-year career as an Architectural Assistant I’ve been able to peruse my interest in art and architecture, uniting both in the field of 3D visualisation. Joining Vector has allowed me to follow my passion and turn a lifelong hobby into a job. Something very few people are able to claim.
In my spare time I enjoy photography, travelling and astronomy. Interests that mix well in every way apart from in my wallet.
Dan Wilkinson - Landscape Architect
Inspired by my parents mythical Wonderland style garden, and Charlie Dimmocks mythical Wonderbra, it is no wonder that a career and passion for landscape architecture was unleashed. At Sheffield University I soon inherited the nickname “Greenfingers”; in part due to my love of plants, but predominantly after I transplanted a 4 metre high birch tree from the campus garden into the hall of residence toilets while “inspired” on fermented apple juice. With nearly 15 years now in the industry I have worked on a wide variety of schemes and consider myself fortunate to do a job that I believe has a real impact on society and the environment.
Away from the office I am a passionate sports fan and play football every weekend for a local team as well as manage the work 5aside team. I also participate in half marathons and marathons and enjoy going to gigs, listening to “proper” music and spending time with my family and 3 year old boy.
James Tasker - 3D Visualiser
I have always had an interest in all forms of design, from cars to fashion. This interest lead me to studying architecture up to part 2 which I completed at Huddersfield University after completing my first degree at Sheffield Hallam University. Since then I have turned my interest in design more towards graphics, and now utilise my range of skills in 3D modelling, Architecture and Graphic Design at Vector Design Concepts. I am very fortunate to have a career doing exactly what I love, a job I would happily do for free as a hobby… but don’t tell them that!
Kamil Bialas - 3D Visualiser
I’ve been interested in the computer games industry for many years and was drawn into 3D Graphics when 3DS Max released version 2.5, enabling me to learn about building and character design. My family are involved in the construction industry so from a young age I’ve been fascinated with buildings and architecture. Working at Vector for the past 9 years has meant I have been fortunate enough to turn a hobby into a career, allowing me to create architectural CGI's for many exciting projects.
Lauren Crawley - Interior Designer
I’ve been a fan of all things design from a young age which led me to study 3D Design before further progressing to study Interior Architecture. I love the idea of taking an old space and creating something new within it.
In my spare time I love doing yoga, going to gigs and eating biscuits.
Laura Jones - Graphic Designer
I have always had a great love and appreciation for design. I was initially introduced to Graphic Design at school, from here I went on to further my education and gain a National Diploma at Chesterfield College and a BA hons at Sheffield Hallam University. From this I went on to work as an in-house Graphic Designer.
I design for print and web, working across a wide range of disciplines including layout and branding. Working at Vector has meant I have been able to broaden my skill set working with other designers whilst also doing a job I love. There is nothing better than making a difference through design.
Outside of the office I love to spend my time skiing, shopping or with my family and two cats, Buzz and Woody.
Joe McCallion - Assistant Landscape Architect
I’ve always had a great interest in Art, Geography and Architecture for as long as I can remember and I look back fondly on the nature walks that inspired me as a small child. I decided to study Landscape Architecture because of this, as in my opinion it combines these three integral subjects. So far working with Vector I have gained valuable Retail and Leisure experience as well as improving my soft landscape repertoire.
I am a keen traveller and enjoy spending my summers abroad, in strange and wonderful places.
I enjoy long cups of tea, contemplating over topics of the day; and night. When I am not working excessively hard I love playing Football, Hiking the Landscape and Birdwatching until the wee hours.
Gavin Darley - Junior Graphic Designer
I've been creative from as early as I can remember, whether it was drawing or music I've always been creating things or looking for inspiration that I can take into future projects. After leaving school I studied fine art at Hemsworth & Barnsley College before switching to computer based imagery and graphic design.
Outside of work I'm a lover of music (I even play a beat too.. ba dum tss) a Football fan and a gamer.
Nico Hall - Junior Interior Designer
Having the opportunity to work in Interior Design really is a dream job for me. I have always been interested in creating and adapting spaces new and old and changing the way we may think, feel, and perceive that environment. When I’m not pondering about design I’m usual thinking about the football down at Elland Road or getting on the dancing shoes for a bit of Northern Soul!
